Check Vehicle Plate Region Code

Check the region of origin for Indonesian vehicle plate codes from the first letter(s) (e.g. B, D, L, AB, etc). 100% in the browser.

Enter the full plate ("B 1234 XYZ") or just the first letter(s) ("B") — spacing and capitalization don't matter. Only the leading letter(s) (region code) is read; the numbers and letters after it are ignored.

✦ Additional facts
🪪 State official code: used to be a trailing letter code RF (e.g. RFS, RFO, RFQ, RFH) at the end of the plate number, but since late 2023 it's no longer valid and has been replaced by the code ZZ (e.g. ZZH = government agency, ZZP = Polri, ZZT = TNI). This is a trailing letter code on the plate, not the leading region code this tool checks.
🌐 Foreign corps code: Plates starting with CD are used by embassies & international organizations, while CC is used by foreign consulates. Try typing "CD" or "CC" in the check box above.
Plate background color: since June 2022, Korlantas POLRI changed the background color of private & rental vehicle plates — from black with white text to white with black text.

⚠️ Region codes can change at any time due to new administrative divisions — the data in this tool is current as of . The letters at the trailing end of the plate number (e.g. "XYZ" in "B 1234 XYZ") usually mark a more specific city/regency, but the numbering pattern varies by province and the data isn't fully available nationwide — this tool currently only supports the leading region letter code, not the trailing letter code. To check vehicle tax or owner data, use the official e-Samsat app for your province — this tool doesn't provide that data.
